Skill Builders Program

In our first five years of providing grants, we’ve seen projects confront many logistical problems.  These have ranged from delays in construction to different understandings between group members involved, along with an array of other challenges.  The Cherokee Preservation Foundation wants the projects we fund to be as successful as possible.  So, we asked Tribal staff and community organization leaders what would help them make project grants run more smoothly.  Based on what we heard, we created the Skill Builders program.  Our objectives are to:

  • Build capacity and capabilities within grantee organizations.
  • Increase individuals’ knowledge, skills and abilities to plan projects, achieve best outcomes, and complete projects on time, within budget.
  • Apply this learning for community benefit.

The Skill Builder program includes the following elements.  (Note that some of the elements are required while others are encouraged via incentives to participate.) Click on each of the following links for complete information.
