If You Know the Qualla Boundary

The Cherokee Preservation is located up the hill beyond the Cherokee Police Station, between the Health Delivery Building and the Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Center. Our building was once the principal’s house of the Cherokee School, and more recently, it housed the EBCI's Education and Training Office.

Directions from Asheville

Go approximately 20 miles on I-40 West.

Take exit 27, on to Hwy. 19/74 West to Waynesville/Cherokee.

Continue on 19/74 West for about 30 miles (do not take the Maggie Valley/Cherokee exit near Waynesville). Continue on Highway 74 West past Sylva and Dillsboro. Take exit 74, which will put you on Hwy. 441 North.

Go approximately seven miles, passing through two traffic lights. At the third light, which is at a T-intersection, turn right. Take the next left in less than one-quarter mile (Cherokee Hospital is referenced on this road).

Continue less than a mile to another T-intersection and go right. Take the next right in just 25 feet.

This one-quarter mile road leads to our office. When you come to the stop sign, our office is in sight, straight ahead in a gray house with white trim. A long gray stucco office building is next door to us. (There are two gray houses side by side. Ours is the one lower down the hill).
